Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is just around the corner now, and in anticipation of the game Bethesda has released the launch trailer for its much-hyped first-person shooter. Damn them for forcing politics into my game. I mean it’s not as if the Wolfenstein series has been based on the same themes for the last 35 years or anything.

True to form, the launch trailer features one and a half minutes filled to the brim with lashings of violence, rousing speeches, rebellious undertones, the slow-motion tossing of grenades, and one heck of an angry BJ. It’s all good unless you’re in a white hood, so it seems.

In line with its promotional pastiches of a right-wing dystopian society, the trailer channels the frustrations of modern day America, and juxtaposes it against the hypothetical ‘what if’ scenario of a Nazi-ruled West. It’s kind of like The Man in the High Castle, but good.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 27. The Nintendo Switch version is planned for release in 2018.
