In an endearing and honestly beautiful parent/child story, Rami Ismail, one half of the indie studio Vlambeer, has shared his mother’s experience of playing Final Fantasy XV. Beginning way back in January, Rami has detailed the adventures of his mum in short and succinct tweets over the last seven months.

I should warn you though, as sweet and heart-warming as this whole experience is, there are plenty of Final Fantasy XV spoilers.

In what started out as a test of whether his mother would actually ‘get’ or even stick with the game, Rami humorously detailed her thoughts along with a running commentary of her playing the game, using the apt hashtag MomvsFFXV on Twitter.

I bought my mom -who doesn’t game at all- FFXV.

An hour in she’s halfway through chapter 1 & slowly starting to get dual stick controls.

This began a series of tweets detailing her progress, her controller preferences (she prefers inverted btw), and her thoughts on some of the characters she came across.

Cindy: “Prince Noctis, could you bring this parcel to the next village?”Mom: “Absolutely not, I’m a prince, do it yourself.”#momvsffxv

She even offers her opinions on some of the story and gameplay aspects of the game, with some very reasonable responses.

You can catch up on the whole of Rami and his mom’s shared experience over on his Twitter, or by using the hashtag MomvsFFXV.

“Wait, if Bahamut can’t defeat Ifrit, what’s a bunch of dudes going to do against him?”, mom rightfully asks. She looks worried. #momvsffxv

If you liked #momvsffxv, leave a response & I’ll read them with her next week. Questions welcome too. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
