Among Us has become an extremely popular murder mystery game with a ton of server options. Fans are able to play with custom settings in private matches. Also, you are able to customize your character and change your name to conceal your identity. However, not much can save you from hackers. Due to the upswell in popularity, the surge of new players also brought hackers who ruin matches. InnerSloth, the developer of Among Us, has responded to the issue surrounding hacking and those who love to cheat. And there is hope.

InnerSloth’s programmer and business lead, Forest Willard, spoke to Kotaku about the company’s hacker response in an interview. Fans were reassured that the developer is rushing to get systems in place which allows for moderation and reporting. In addition, various improvements to servers are being made so it’s better at detecting these hacks.

“I’m sort of scrambling to get all the right people in place, but I’m attacking it from multiple angles so it can get better in many ways hopefully all at once,” Willard said.

Among Us hackers beware

You may be familiar with hackers on a variety of other titles. An example of this is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, where 200,000 hackers have been banned to date. Cheaters in the aforementioned games used hacks to gain advantage over their competition, allowing them to achieve a high number of kills and win the match.

However, unlike in those games, Among Us hackers don’t gain anything from cheating. Hackers joining your games usually mean they are just there to try and ruin your experience. According to the community, these cheaters are ale to increase their movement speed, kill the entire lobby, and more.

It will be interesting to see what improvements InnerSloth make to combat hackers in Among Us and when changes will be rolled out. Until then, you can avoid hackers altogether by playing in private lobbies with your friends.
