Nintendo 3DS’s Gears of War-style shooter Ironfall: Invasion has been pulled from the Nintendo eShop after it was revealed that an exploit in the game could be utilised to enable the use of homebrew applications.

Well-known homebrew coder Jordan “Smealum” Rabet recently revealed a homebrew exploit using the game and advised 3DS gamers to download the free-to-play shooter.

“Everyone interested in 3DS homebrew should get Ironfall from the eShop for FREE! Tell all your friends, please RT!” Smealum urged his followers earlier this month.

Then a few days ago Ironfall went missing from the eShop and this message was posted by Nintendo of Europe.

IRONFALL Invasion is temporarily unavailable on Nintendo eShop. Apologies for the inconvenience. Stay tuned for more information.

Smealum apologised for being responsible for the game being removed and said that he hopes the developers fix the exploit to get it back on the store soon.

At the time of writing the exploit has not been released.
