Developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda, Ghostwire Tokyo is a brand new action and exploration game set in modern-day Tokyo. Players are tasked with exploring the city while trying to exorcise any rampant spirits that may be terrorizing its citizens. With that in mind, if you’re wondering whether Ghostwire Tokyo is an open-world game, here’s what you need to know.

To put it simply, yes Ghostwire Tokyo is a open-world game in the sense that you’re free to wander around a fairly large map and explore its various zones. However, if you’re expecting an open-world game on the same scale as something like Skyrim or The Witcher 3, you’ll be disappointed.

Ghostwire Tokyo is a much smaller scale game compared to those behemoths, and is more comparable to games like Dishonored, which also offers an open environment you can explore, but also feels smaller and more focused. There’s still a lot to see in this game, but just keep your expectations in check as you’re getting into it.

That being said, even if it is a smaller scale game, Ghostwire Tokyo still offers up a ton of side content you can check out when you’re not progressing through the main story. In fact, in addition to its six main story chapters, it’ll likely take you around 50 hours if you’re planning on doing all the optional stuff and trying to 100% the game.

That’s all you need to know about whether Ghostwire Tokyo is an open-world game. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
