After months of anticipation and hype, Pokemon Legends Arceus has finally been released for the Nintendo Switch. This new adventure takes place in the Hisui region, where players will get the chance to see the initial interactions between humankind and Pokemon. There’s a large open-world to explore, though it’s worth noting that a few series staples are missing here. If you’re wondering whether Pokemon Legends Arceus is multiplayer, here’s what you need to know.
Is Pokemon Legends Arceus Multiplayer? Answered
The short answer is, no, Pokemon Legends Arceus is not a multiplayer game. There’s no way to explore the world with your friends either locally or online, like in Pokemon Let’s Go, nor is there any way to battle your friends either.
The only trainer battles you’ll get to experience in this game are against NPCs, and the Noble Pokemon to a lesser extent. If you were hoping to get into the competitive PvP scene with this game, unfortunately you’re out of luck.
That’s not to say that there aren’t still some multiplayer features to this game, however.
Multiplayer Features in Pokemon Legends Arceus
These are the only multiplayer-centric features available in Pokemon Legends Arceus, and while they certainly are very limited, at least it’s something, I suppose.
- First off, you can still trade Pokemon with your friends online and locally. Speak with the trading post NPC in Jubilife Village, and select the option to trade Pokemon. You can do this locally or via an online connection, where you can enter a link code and enter a trade session with a friend. You can also help out other players by retrieving lost satchels. If a player blacks out, they lose a few items in their satchel, and the satchel location will be indicated on your map. If you manage to retrieve the satchel, you can send them back to their owners via the Lost and Found section in the character menu and receive a few Merit Points in return. Merit Points can be used to purchase rare items back at the trading post.
