Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, based on the ever-popular Nickelodeon cartoon show, is set to grace multiple platforms soon. Now that its release is nearly here, reviews have started pouring in and critics are divided when it comes to the animated title.
But even though the childish charm of Spongebob and the gang can’t seem to please the professionals, it seems that hardcore fans will still be purchasing it regardless. With a large number of people now planning on getting the game, one of the questions that has frequently been popping up is whether you can play it in co-op mode. Here’s what we know.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to play co-op in the game as the story was purely designed as a single-player experience. However, you will be accompanied by Patrick Star and other familiar characters throughout your journey so it should still be an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
Based on the multiple trailers that have already been shown, players will only be able to control Spongebob as he navigates through a variety of themed areas. Some fans are predictably frustrated at the removal of other playable characters, which was an integral part of the previous installment.
Luckily, many of the viewers that have watched the previews so far have had nothing but positive things to say about the game. Most are praising it for the accurate and colorful depictions of the locations found within. People are also optimistic about its enjoyable looking gameplay, with some even saying that “this exceeded their expectations.”
