If the light is on, the mic is active, if the light is off, the mic is muted.Four selectable polar patterns: Choose between four polar patterns (stereo, omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional) to optimize your broadcast setup and keep the focus on the sounds you want to be heard.Gain control adjustment: Easily adjust your mic sensitivity by turning the dial at the bottom of the QuadCast.

  • HyperX QuadCast – the original version that only lights up in the color red when active. It doesn’t connect to NGENUITY because it only has USB type B connecting to type A.HyperX QuadCast S – this is the improved version of QuadCast. It lights up in RBG when active and can connect to NGENUITY. It also has a USB-C cable that connects to type A.

Price and Availability

The HyperX QuadCast retails at $139.99, making it almost at par with its competitors, such as the Blue Teti. But if you consider the extras, such as a well-built-in pop filter and shock mount that comes with the QuadCast, it comes out on top.

Its higher-end variant, the Hyperx QuadCast S, goes for $169.99. They share the hardware and specs, but the S version enjoys customizable RGB lighting. You can consider this version if you want this extra.

HyperX QuadCast Review

Design

The biggest highlight of the HyperX QuadCast is the aesthetics. The dynamic Red for flagship QuadCast and RGB on the S version looks like a lava lamp, as it slowly lights up in its various color schemes. Moreover, these RGBs are fully adjustable via HyperX’s NGENUITY software, allowing the users to customize their color combinations.

The HyperX’s mic is plug-and-play and is good to go once it’s unboxed. Setting it up involves fixing it on its stand and then connecting it to your computer via a USB cable. HyperX provides a 5/8- and 3/8-inch adapter that attaches the QuadCast to a bottom arm to avoid a mess.

It also comes with an internal pop filter and anti-vibration shock mount. These extras can save you the trouble of buying the accessories, which might sometimes set you back at least $25.00.

The QuadCast comes with a haptic mute button on the mic. This helps cover up coughs and sneezes during gaming and video calls. This button is highly sensitive and activates even with a slight touch. Thus, the mic doesn’t pick any audible “thump.” The RGB lighting and LED indicator can switch off when you are not talking. You don’t have to worry about your colleagues or friends hearing you.

The HyperX has a gain dial at the bottom that adjusts the microphone sensitivity easily without confirming with software settings. A dial is also located at the center of the mic, allowing you to select between cardioid, omnidirectional, stereo, and bidirectional audio configurations. The mic also features an internal 3mm headphone jack.

HyperX NGENUITY App

Taking a page from brands like Razer and Corsair, HyperX has designed its desktop app for customizing or syncing RGB lighting effects and creating button layouts on the mic, custom keybindings on keyboards, and adjusting your output and input results with your mic. This app enables you to adjust the headphone and mic monitoring volume and toggle mic monitoring off and on.

You can also see which popular pattern you picked and briefly explain the best-suited design. It would be best to change between patterns within the app and with the onboard dial. But doing so can be an engineering nightmare!

The app has a separate tab for the mic that allows users to adjust the RGB lighting. You may choose between five effects (Wave, Lightning, Cycle, Blink, and Solid), break the color and light down by sections, adjust the opacity for a truly custom look, create custom colors, and adjust color-change speed.

Sound Quality

Out of all its features, QuadCast’s high-quality sound justifies its cost. It offers a 16-bit rate and a frequency response between 20Hz and 20kHz. There are three condensers on the mic (each 14mm) working in four different directional projections.

The HyperX QuadCast mic improves sound quality compared to gaming headsets like the Razer Kraken Ultimate and HyperX Cloud Mix. It can preserve the clarity of every word you speak and filter out noises from the background.

The gain dial on the QuadCast allows you to adjust its sensitivity. This feature can help maintain the audio levels manageable, especially during an intense recording session or a video call.
