The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta is about to enter Weekend Two – which means Xbox and PC players can finally play the game.

PlayStation owners will once again get to play – regardless of if they have pre-ordered the game. Yes, this means the MW2 beta supports crossplay.

Just as with last weekend, there’ll be two phases – with early access from September 22-23. This will then be followed by an open beta stage where anyone can download and play between 24-26 regardless of pre-order status.

Is the MW2 beta free?

Part of the beta will be free, yes. On Saturday September 24, anyone regardless of pre-order status, can get in on the beta, giving those unsure about the game a decent amount of time to gets hands on.

It will kick off at 6pm UK time and 10 am PT. This stage of the beta will be the only time an Xbox Live gold subscription is NOT required.

The beta will close for everyone on Monday, September 26 at 6pm UK time/10am PT. The full game will launch proper one month later on October 28.

Activision has revealed a bunch of cosmetic rewards for playing the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

All you need to do is reach the required Operator Level before the end of the beta by playing, and subsequently earning XP.

The rewards will be available in Modern Warfare 2 when it launches on October 28. We’re also told these rewards will also be available in Warzone 2.0 too, whenever that starts.

Is the MW2 live now?

The MW2 beta, which is into its second weekend, goes live on September 22 and runs until September 26.

Is the MW2 beta offline?

Nope, you’ll need an internet connection to play the beta. The offline campaign mode is not part of the beta.
