It Chapter Two released in theaters this past weekend, and has already pulled in an impressive $185 million at the worldwide box office. The horror film, based on the massive Stephen King novel It, features multiple nods to video games, mainly in the form of cabinets seen at the local arcade/movie theater in Derry, Maine. However, it appears as though the filmmakers didn’t necessarily do their research, as It Chapter Two features multiple video game errors.

The first error comes when the child version of Richie, played by Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, is playing Street Fighter at the arcade. We see a scene of Richie playing Street Fighter against a kid, with Richie controlling Ryu and the kid playing as Retsu. The problem with this is that the original Street Fighter only allowed players to play as Ryu or Ken in multiplayer, meaning it would be impossible for the kid to be playing as Retsu.

An even more glaring error comes later on in the movie, where we see a flashback of the kids at the theater/arcade. As they pile into a photo booth, we can see what is clearly a Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet in the background. The problem with this is that this scene takes place in 1989, whereas Mortal Kombat didn’t release until 1992.

Most moviegoers likely won’t notice these It Chapter Two errors. They’re pretty minor mistakes in the grand scheme of things, and neither impact the plot in any significant way.

But speaking of Mortal Kombat, there does appear to be some fan demand to see It’s evil clown/cosmic entity Pennywise added as DLC. Ed Boon responded to fans wanting Pennywise DLC for Mortal Kombat 11, but didn’t offer any clarification on if such a crossover would be possible. Mortal Kombat 11’s Joker DLC likely means that the “evil clown” role is already filled, but it’s hard to say either way.

In the meantime, fans can find Pennywise and It references in various video games. Pennywise’s balloons are in Fortnite for a limited time, and Far Cry 5 players can also find references to the evil clown. With the It movies being some of the most successful horror movies ever, fans can expect to see even more references to the franchise in video games in the years to come.

It Chapter Two is now in theaters.
