iZombie Season 5 Cast
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been cast in iZombie Season 5. According to THR, the former basketball player will guest star in an episode of the CW show. He will play Zed, “one of just two Seattle City Council members who didn’t flee the city before the wall went up.” While Zed’s felllow council member is a human, Zed is a zombie, creating a political stalemate at city hall.
The whole gang is returning for iZombie‘s final outing: Rose McIver (Liv Moore), Malcolm Goodwin (Clive Babineaux), Rahul Kohli (Ravi Chakrabarti), Robert Buckley (Major Lilywhite), David Anders (Blaine McDonough) and Aly Michalka (Peyton Charles).
What else is in store for Liv and friends in iZombie Season 5? Speaking to TVLine post-Season 4 finale, showrunner Rob Thomas teased “our characters are in some positions in power right now.”
“Liv now has this folk hero status, Major is going to be heading Fillmore Graves. Until Seattle elects a new mayor, Peyton is sort of keeping all the plates spinning, at least in the city,” said Thomas. “And then we’ve got the doctor [who is] probably most likely to come up with some cure for zombieism.”
Right now, Major’s number one concern is how to feed all of the city’s zombies, said Thomas, a job that will not be made easier by the people within Fillmore Graves who were loyal to Chase Graves, or by the people who think Major should be held more accountable for the role he had in Fillmore Graves’ crimes.
What does Thomas hope to address in Season 5, given that it is iZombie‘s last?
“The fate of Major and Liv will need to be answered by the end of [next] season. That I can promise, that there will be a resolution. I don’t know what that resolution will be yet, but it will feel resolved. And that was always one of those things that you’re going to hold in your back pocket until your final season and figure it out then. I think we’re going to give some sort of answer to the fate of zombie kind.”
“And again,” he continued. “I do not know what that answer will be, but we won’t do the Sopranos ending. It won’t just be like you’re watching the show and then someone just hits stop in a random place. And I say that actually really liking the Sopranos ending, but I suspect that we’re going to get more resolution than that.” Phew.
As for Liv, Thomas said the fact that this is an ending for the show means “it probably gives [Liv] more opportunity for happiness than previous seasons.”
