Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Punisher actor Jon Bernthal, who also appeared in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, revealed in an interview that he is interested in playing another video game character. However, this one comes from a Nintendo franchise, and surprisingly, it’s Little Mac from the Punch-Out series. During this interview, the Colonel Cole D. Walker actor in Ghost Recon Breakpoint also spoke about his fondness for games from the ’80s.

When asked about who he’d like to play from a video game series, Bernthal said that he has been playing Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out with his kids. As a result, Bernthal said he would like to portray Little Mac because “he’s really small, but that would be really cool I think — his rise up through the ranks.”

Additionally, Bernthal expressed interest in starring in a Castlevania film. Right now, Netflix is airing its own Castlevania animated show, with the show being two seasons in, but the addition of Bernthal is something that would likely be welcomed by many fans.

Regardless, Bernthal’s choice of Little Mac is a fairly unusual choice. Bernthal, whose role in Ghost Recon Breakpoint is quite prominent, could now be considered a very prolific actor. Having starred in two Ghost Recon games, Bernthal has also displayed his acting chops in The Walking Dead, Daredevil, The Wolf of Wall Street, Baby Driver, Fury, and more.

Bernthal is no stranger to lending his talents to video games, though. Before his role in the Ghost Recon series, Bernthal also had a role in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Starring as Corporal Jim Decker, he was playable in the game’s Exo Zombies mode. The role may not have been as involved, but it nonetheless likely acquainted the star with acting in the gaming industry.

Bernthal previously stated that acting in Ghost Recon Breakpoint was more challenging than television and movies, making it comparable to theatre and plays. In the face of this, all available evidence suggests that Bernthal was able to turn in a compelling performance as the villainous Colonel Walker in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Whether Bernthal will return for future Ghost Recon installments is currently unknown.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
