There are several Explorer Logs hidden in Journey to the Savage Planet. It’s mostly just a challenge for completionists since you’ll finish the “Lost and Found” sidequest and you’ll be able to read the logs. This guide lets you know all their locations.

Note: Some locations may be unreachable unless you have fully upgraded your gadgets (ie. Quadruple Thrusters). If you need help with upgrades, we’ve got you covered with our Science Experiments and Explorer Rank mini-guide.

Journey to the Savage Planet: Explorer Logs guide

(1) The Landing Site – Towering Crystals

From the fast travel point, head south and east until you reach the area in the image below.

Move onwards until you reach a small clearing. You’ll remember this as the location where you were first able to use your thrusters to double jump. This was also the first time you kicked Flufferbirds inside the Meat Vortex plant. Fun memories!

Anyway, use your thrusters to reach the small crawlspace above you.

Molten lava is spewing from the burning pool below, so use the platforms to make your way across.

You’ll find an Explorer Log and an Alien Alloy here.

(2) The Landing Site – Towering Crystals

Exit the cave and go past the Meat Vortex plant from earlier. You should see a wall that can be destroyed. Lob a Bombegranate at the wall.

Inside, you can pick up a glowing plant to light your way.

At the end of the cavern is another Explorer Log and Alien Alloy.

(3) The Itching Fields – Festering Chasm

You’ll notice several mushrooms that you can hop on top of. They’ll take you to a cavern entrance.

You’ll eventually reach a cavernous room with a door that can be opened with a Bombegranate. The next doorway needs a Shock Fruit.

This cool secret area is known as Plork’s Narrows of Despair. Laser traps are activated and the floor panels off to the side are also moving. Try to make your way across by timing your jumps.

Once you reach the end, you can grab an Explorer Log and another Alien Alloy.

(4) The Itching Fields – Fungi of Si’ned VII

Head west then south to reach the area with the Kapyenas.

Run to the southwestern edge which has a breakable floor panel.

Follow the path going down and use your grapple. Skate using the tendrils until you reach the base of the floating island.

When you reach the end, there’s another breakable floor panel. The Explorer Log is right below that.

(5) The Elevated Realm – Pillars of Xzorgana

From the fast travel point, make your way to the northeastern section. You’ll notice tendrils that you can use to skate.

Skate to the nearby floating island.

Once you’re there, turn around and there’s a smaller floating island here that you can jump towards.

Destroy the purple crystals so you can gain access to the Explorer Log.

(6) The Elevated Realm – Pillars of Xzorgana

Head back to the Pillars of Xzorgana and go to the southwestern edge of the island. You’ll notice another floating island in the distance, which is the location of a Javelin Fuel Source.

But, rather than going there, look down and to the left. You’ll see several green pillars that are floating in mid-air. Jump to these pillars and throw Grapple Seeds on the barnacles below.

You should see that there’s one tiny floating rock with a grapple node, so grab onto that.

Fling your Grapple Seed at the barnacles across to reach the landing.

The Explorer Log is covered in amber, so use your Blight Bomb to disintegrate the coating.

(7) Within the Spire – Moist Vestibule

Head to the pit area and drop down to the first level. Take a look at the underground waterfall and you should see a breakable vat beside it. Shoot the glass to reveal the Explorer Log.

Do one of your charged jumps and scan it.

(8) Within the Spire – Moist Vestibule

Head down one more level to the area with the molten liquid that’s dropping on the floor. You should see large gnarled roots. The breakable glass contains the final Explorer Log.

Charge your jump to reach it.

Congratulations! You’ve obtained all the Explorer Logs in Journey to the Savage Planet. You’ve also completed the “Lost and Found” sidequest. Go read some of the notes back in the Javelin if you want to.
