The sequel to a game I really wanted to like is fast approaching. IO Interactive is starting to crank up the ad machine and has released the first of four videos detailing the multiplayer modes you will find in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. The first is “Arcade Mode” in which the player cooperates with a group of thieves to blow up an objective and make off with $4 million. After absconding with the loot, you get four minutes to make it to the extraction point or you fail. You also get bounties put on your head for killing your fellow thieves, so watch your fire. Interestingly enough, your “teammates” will also be capable of taking you out if you don’t pick up enough of the score.

Please be forewarned, there is going to be some very naughty language in the trailer, so use caution before playing it at work or around schoolchildren:

What I liked most about Kane & Lynch was you weren’t playing heroes, you were playing criminals who just happened to be needed for another criminal’s dirty work. That’s awesome crime drama if I ever heard of it. Unfortunately, the game just wasn’t that great to play and was lacking in every department. Don’t get me wrong, I still played it, but it was more of a trudging experience than anything else.

The game looks a bit better and the graininess effect on the graphics looks very fitting with the kind of nasty stuff you will be performing. Let’s hope IO Interactive nails it this time.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will be committing all sorts of awful crimes for the sake of…crime on August 25, 2010, on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
