Wondering what it’s like to be in a heist? Do you think the closest you’ll get to executing a high-risk robbery is watching Heat? You will wonder no longer, because Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days’ Arcade or Fragile Alliance mode will pick up the slack and allow you to experience of performing an armed robbery of millions of dollars with other untrustworthy individuals.

This recent trailer from IO Interactive takes you through the paces of performing a heist on a subway and escaping in four minutes, flat. You may think that’s a short time, but when you’re under fire, believe me, that is a long time. The action is more than explicit, so please be responsible.

Dog Days didn’t receive a stellar score from us, but I do find myself enjoying the game on its particular merits. The camera system and the fast paced action are a match made in heaven and portray the desperation and craziness of the game more than adequately. I certainly do wish for a sequel to be produced, but nothing has been officially announced thus far. I will continuously applaud IO’s courage in integrating such a radically different art style for their game, but I have found it very successful and intense. I hope that the style will continue in the next installments of the franchise.

Obviously, the kind of subject matter the Kane & Lynch franchise deals with might not be for everyone, but it’s no different than movies like Heat, The Way of the Gun, or even Heist. The idea of portraying characters performing very specific criminal acts (as opposed to random criminal acts, ie Grand Theft Auto) is interesting in its own way. It’s hard to define, but it’s enjoyable and very interesting. Who knows what the future holds for the crazed duo, but I definitely know that I want to see more of them.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is available now for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
