Intercept Games has announced another delay for upcoming spaceflight simulation sequel, Kerbal Space Program 2.

In an update to the game’s fans on the forum, creative director Nate Simpson explained the reasons for the delay. “We are building a game of tremendous technological complexity, and are taking this additional time to ensure we hit the quality and level of polish it deserves. We remain focused on making sure KSP2 performs well on a variety of hardware, has amazing graphics, and is rich with content.”

As a result, the game will now launch in early 2023 on PC. Console versions, for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, will follow later in the year. Simpson thanked fans for their patience and continued support so far.

The sequel was first announced all the way back in 2019. It’s gone through a few development studio changes, before the original game’s team was merged with a new team by publisher Private Division. The new Intercept Games team then gave the previous release target of 2022 by November of 2020.

The team promise they’ll have more information in the coming months. For now, we can hopefully expect Kerbal Space Program 2 in early 2023 on PC & on consoles later that year.
