KFC appears to be announcing its own Rainbow Six Siege tournament, as proclaimed proudly on Twitter earlier this week.
Yesterday, KFC unveiled I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator. It’s a game in which you play as a dedicated culinary student, and your classmate is the dashingly hipster Colonel Sanders. The goal is to romance Colonel Sanders and become his business partner — or maybe something more — through cooking battles using secret recipes and chatting to a quirky cast of characters. If that wasn’t strange enough, now the Colonel is making his first foray into esports.
Viewing the video, it seems that the ‘reward’ will be a Rainbow Six esports event, that promises ‘cash and chicken to be won.’ Clips of Rainbow Six Siege elimination are set to a heavy metal track, and punctuated with an image of Colonel Sanders toting a gaming headset and devouring wings. I assume that it will be broadcast from the KFC Gaming ‘finger clickin’ good’ Twitch channel on September 23, with Operators from far and fried who hopefully won’t play chicken.
Rainbow Six Siege was the winner of KFC Gaming’s ‘World Cup of Games’ competition, securing the blue ribbon with 100,000 votes to beat Minecraft out of the final round. In response, KFC Gaming said, ‘The turnout from the community was huge… guess we’ll have to put together a reward for the R6 Siege family.’ Plus the eyes emoji, which always means shifty stuff.
September 23rd.
