The highly anticipated shooter Killzone 3 just became a lot more epic. Award-winning Dutch composer Joris De Man is working on his original score to the upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive title. Internationally renowned for his powerful and sweeping music, De Man’s work will greatly complement the game’s cinematic style and visceral gameplay. In keeping with the grandness of the occasion, the score will be recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London.

In May, De Man was given the inaugural award for “Best Original Video Game Score” for his work on the Killzone 2 soundtrack, at the 55th Ivor Novello Awards ceremony. Presented annually by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters (BASCA), the Ivors are respected worldwide as the major platform for recognizing and rewarding Britain’s songwriting and composing talents. They are the only major music award to be judged and presented by the writing community itself. De Man reacted to this musical achievement:

I appreciate how De Man is concerned with how important music is to gaming. He understands that music and story need to complement each other to make a truly rewarding experience. He really wants to propel gaming to the next level through his work, and it shows, as his projects just keep on growing in scale.

“Winning the Ivor this year gave me such a boost because receiving was not just recognition for my work on the score, but being awarded it in its first year meant being part of a growing appreciation of game music in general.”

Once again, soon we will be able to take on the Helghast army, and this one promises to be bigger than ever before. In addition to the absorbing single-player campaign and multiplayer action, Killzone 3 will also be fully playable in Stereoscopic 3D. Combined with the killer score by Joris De Man, this looks to be an experience not to be missed.

Between the 3D aspect and the epic music, this will be something to behold for sure. Well, Ranters, are you hyped yet for the grand scale of Killzone 3?

Killzone 3 is schedule to take on the Helghast in February 2011 exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
