If you found yourself hoping that Kingdom Hearts III was more challenging, the developers have you covered. The just-released Re:MIND DLC has a secret boss so hard to beat that it will make you cry.

Once players have beaten the main Re:Mind story, which is about four hours long, they can take on the secret boss. It turns out to be Yozora, the main character in the fictional game Verum Rex. The character has appeared in the Re:MIND trailer already, as well as in the secret movie of Kingdom Hearts 3, so having him as a secret boss makes sense, especially considering the game’s tendency to introduce mysterious characters and have them develop further as the games go on.
It seems that making Yozora crazy difficult was Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura’s goal. In a Q&A session titled “7 Lights and 13 Darknesses,” Tai Yasue, the co-director of Kingdom Hearts 3, said that, “We had testers and developers who beat secret bosses from past Kingdom Hearts games, and we did, in fact, get feedback saying ‘hard enough to make you cry.’ It’s a secret boss with an especially high number of attack patterns and will take time to strategize. However, just like the Real Organization XIII members, you can strategize against all their moves, so it’s not impossibly hard, and you can even beat them with no damage for perfect play.”
Other than this great tidbit of information, Yasue also adds that the DLC will let you play an additional story as Kairi, Roxas, Riku, Aqua “with new coordinated action,” he explains. The DLC is for the players who need more Kingdom Hearts 3, both story and new playable characters, and there’s something for everyone - the Limit Cut Real Organization XIII for people looking for a challenge, or Data Greeting and Slideshow for creative people.
Kingdom Hearts 3‘s Re: MIND DLC came out today on PlayStation 4, and will arrive on Xbox One on February 25th, 2020. Perhaps the PlayStation players will be done crying and pulling their hair out just in time for Xbox-users to take over.
