Nintendo has announced a release date for upcoming party game Kirby’s Dream Buffet, alongside a new trailer.

The game sees our favourite pink puff shrunk down on a giant dinner table of his dreams. Competing against three others, the aim is simply to become the biggest Kirby you can.

You’ll do this through both food-themed races, mini games and even a battle royale. Winners get strawberries, and of course the more you eat, thebetter your chances of winning. Check it out for yourself below.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet – release date and gametypes

Kirby’s Dream Buffet has been set the release date of August 17, 2022 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

There’ll be three main modes in the game at launch. They include races, in which you’ll race against your opponents and AI characters to get to a buffet of strawberries. The twist is, you’ll be able to eat berries along the way to make yourself bigger.

Doing this will make you heavier, and able to bounce into opponents to knock them off course. Even better, some Copy Foods will give you special abilities to give you an edge.

Meanwhile, Minigames place you and your opponents in a small arena. The goal is to simply eat as many strawberries as you can. Some of them will drop onto the arena, while others will be inside boxes.

Finally, Battle Royale mode will be the final showdown. You’ll have to bet all the strawberries you’ve earned so far for a fight against your friends. Knock Kirbys off the map, and you get their Strawberries. Whoever’s got the most at the end wins the whole thing.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet – multiplayer modes and more

You’ll be able to spend your strawberries that you earn from matches on unique cosmetics. You’ll also be able to unlock new stages and more with them too. There’ll also be local and online multiplayer, including the ability to play 2 player local co-op and wireless modes supported too.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet was originally announced last month. It’s been a good year for fans of the pink one, as Nintendo’s also re-released Kirby 64 and earlier this year gave him his latest full-fat adventure in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
