Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding is coming to PC in early summer 2020, as revealed on Twitter (via VG247).
Well, when Kojima announced that he’d secured a partnership with Sony to deliver Death Stranding, it was stated to be a ‘console exclusive’, but ‘is planned to become available on PC (after PS4).’ Sony funded a portion of its development and gave the Kojima Productions team access to the Decima engine, so it was hoisted up alongside exclusives like The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima.
The official PlayStation site listed Death Stranding as a PlayStation 4 exclusive title as recently as May of this year. When it was spontaneously delisted in August, the internet fell to pieces. Why had it been removed? Is Death Stranding coming to other platforms? Is the game an exclusive or is it a timed exclusive? What could it all mean?

Back then, Sony said that it was ‘not disclosing details’ on when the PC port would be arriving. But today, the release window was dropped in a surprise announcement by the developer. ‘Kojima Productions is happy to announce that Death Stranding will be coming to PC in early summer of 2020!’ the tweet from its official account read.
PC players will have to bide their time for a little while longer, but hey, maybe by then we’ll have worked out what Death Stranding is all about. It also opens up new possbilities for the social strand system inherent to the game’s experience. Maybe we’ll know what that means by next summer too.
Death Stranding launches on November 8 for the PlayStation 4.
