A lot of people lost faith in Konami a few years ago. This was when the company canceled Hideo Kojima’s ambitious Silent Hills shortly after its official confirmation. But now, it appears to be trying to make good again, as the infamous horror series could come back. Rumors recently circulated that the publisher had not one but two Silent Hill games in the works. Konami has responded to those rumors but didn’t completely squash them as expected. Instead, it provided hope that the horror series might just come back.
What can we expect from Silent Hill’s return?
In a statement given to PCGamesN about series revival rumors, a Konami representative succinctly said, “We cannot share anything at this point, but we are listening to customer feedback and considering ways to provide the next title.”
It’s fair to say we probably won’t get an announcement anytime soon on the series’s return. But the fact that it could come back bigger and better than ever before has a lot of fans feeling hopeful.
The last official Silent Hill game to come out was Downpour for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was later followed by the dungeon-crawler adventure game Book of Memories for PlayStation Vita. Past that, not much has been seen from it, aside from the Silent Hills trailer at the end of the infamous P.T. demo.
Konami has done a lot better as of late when it comes to taking care of its franchises. A Castlevania collection came out last year. In addition, Contra also made a comeback, between its own compilation of older games and a new entry, Rogue Corps. So there’s hope that Silent Hill could be in good hands.
Right now, we just have to play a waiting game. But keep those fingers crossed for the return of horror goodness.
