Hideo Kojima’s name has been removed from the Zone of the Enders HD Collection page on Konami’s website.
The removal is the latest in a series of alterations made to Konami’s websites and branding, following shortly after Kojima’s name was removed from the artwork of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection.
The HD Collection’s original description stated that the release “marks the return of two fan favorite PS2 games from Hideo Kojima”, and that “the games feature the engrossing storytelling of Hideo Kojima paired with thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting”.
However, it has since been amended to say that the collection “marks the return of two fan favourite PS2 games”, and that “the games feature the engrossing storytelling, paired with thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting”.
It was also discovered this morning that the Kojima Productions logo had been removed from the Silent Hills website, a future title that Kojima had been expected to be developing in conjunction with Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro.
A joint statement released by Kojima and Konami earlier this month stated that the director was still “100% involved” in the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, although rumours suggest that he is set to leave once work on the game is complete.
UPDATE 21:35: Konami appears to have reinserted the reference to Kojima back into the game’s product description. For the record, here is a screengrab of the same page captured in Google Cache on March 25, 2015 without any reference to Kojima.
