We still don’t have a release date for trippy brawler Kung Fu Jesus, but we at least have this new music video.

The whole point of Kung Fu Jesus still eludes us. On the surface, it appears to be a pretty standard brawler game where you play as a dude wearing a Raiden-style hat and who knows Kung Fu, but every single time Celestial Gold Studios releases a new trailer, we’re right back to being as confused as we were when the game was announced last September.

Here’s what we know for sure: Kung Fu Jesus is a game from UK-based indie team Celestial Gold Studios. Some of their team members made Disco Elysium, perhaps the highest-rated RPG of 2019, and they also have some pretty big talent on the sound design front too. So there’s no question that the folks in charge know what they’re doing and are very good at what they do.

The problem is we don’t really know what they’re doing. When Kung Fu Jesus was announced, it was billed as a sort of fighting game slash action-adventure title with RPG elements and a truly bizarre plot. We think the bizarre plot is still there, but the latest trailer makes Kung Fu Jesus out to be more of a standard brawler-type game than anything else.

From The Doomsday Device comes “No You No Us,” which is apparently a song that will be on the Kung Fu Jesus soundtrack. If you’re not into music videos sung by dudes wearing fedoras, we’ll save you some time and just say that the video is mostly just action shots from the game superimposed on the fedora-capped singer.

It’s all very far out man, as fellow kids say. We also got a few more tidbits about the game, including Cyber City Volaris as the game’s very cyberpunk setting, and Kung Fu Jesus will wield weapons such as pistols.

There are also some new screenshots on Steam that provide us with further insight into what will surely be the game’s characters, although we have no idea who they are or what their goals are.

We also still don’t have a release date for Kung Fu Jesus other than sometime in 2020. We’d say that this trailer is some indication that development is still in progress, but really, who the heck knows?
