It appears that the newest patch for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has made it load somewhat faster.

The game was updated last week, and now has a VR mode for Labo. It seems like it has undergone some improvements as well, with speedrunner Alex de Champris tweeting evidence of sorts pointing to quicker loading times.

De Champris has posted clips showing improved shrine loading times, which are about five seconds faster. Prior to the update, it took 17 seconds to exit a shrine; it takes 12 seconds now. The time to enter the shrine went down from 13 to 10 seconds.

The tests, though, were carried out using a cartridge, and not the digital copy of the game. The update has brought the Switch and WiiU load times closer, with the WiiU loading time being faster before it. Loading and restarting was quicker on the WiiU, which made it the go-to console for Zelda speedrunners. The update now leaves Switch users in a better position to speedrun Breath of the Wild via their console.

As TheGamer’s Scott Baird reports, the VR mode could be nauseating, unless you’re set up with a swiveling office chair.

“The VR mode in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild essentially puts the player in control of the camera directly behind Link. The setup will quickly make the player feel ill, as the movement of the camera isn’t accommodating to the player’s head movement, which means that you will still be expected to use the right stick for camera movement,” he writes in his review.

“The only feasible way to play a game with as much action and exploration as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in VR is on a swiveling office chair, as anything less will require the player to use the right stick. The use of the right stick is the quickest way to make a player feel ill, as a forced movement of any kind is usually a big problem in VR.”

Other dataminers and modders are claiming that a recent Switch update has added a “Boost Mode.” However, that isn’t shown in the official Switch firmware patch notes and hasn’t been confirmed by Nintendo either.

Meanwhile, it is also being said that Super Mario Odyssey is also loading faster.
