‘Tis the season for holiday-themed updates. Dead or Alive 6 has just added a ton of new holiday content in the form of bikinis and guest character Rachel from Koei Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden series. Offering all of this alongside general bug fixes and balance adjustments, this is sure to be a welcomed patch for DOA fans.
Rachael makes her second appearance in the Dead or Alive series following her debut in Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate. She is immediately available to those who purchased the most current season pass for the game. If you’d rather not spend $80, Rachel can be purchased separately for $5.99 or in a costume bundle for $7.99. Along with Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond from SNK’s The King of Fighters, Rachel rounds out DOA’s cast of Femme Fatales.
As well as adding Rachel, Koei Tecmo detailed the balancing and bug fixes for this new patch in a PDF. Nothing seems to be too major in terms of it changing any core aspects of gameplay, though more costumes are now present. Players can grab the Santa Bikini costume set priced at a hefty $24.99. This, along with Rachel, is also included for season pass holders and adds new costumes for everyone apart from Mai and Kula.
Despite not gaining the notoriety or widespread appeal of Street Fighter V and Tekken 7, Dead or Alive 6 continues to have a strong following that builds on its existing foundation. If nothing else, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo have continued to pour out new content to support the fighter for the next year.
While the fan service has always been a major selling point of this series, the prices on each DLC pack are a little steep. With a $24.99 costume pack and characters being $8 a pop, Koei Tecmo really isn’t making it easy for casual fans to jump in. Still, the costumes play a large role in the appeal of Dead or Alive with many players gravitating towards the female combatants over anyone else.
