Konami has removed Hideo Kojima’s name and the Kojima Productions logo from the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain box art.

A revised version of the pack shot (pictured above) was uploaded by the publisher yesterday (spotted by NeoGAF) with references to Kojima and the studio completely removed.

The original box art featured the line “A Hideo Kojima Game” and the logo for Kojima Productions. You can see how it had been set to appear in the image below.

The new box follows months after Konami wiped Kojima’s name and the studio’s logo off the branding of The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes on its website, although it is unclear whether references to either will feature on the back of the box.

This weekend, Snake’s Japanese voice actor Akio Otsuka claimed that Kojima Productions had been disbanded. Kojima, meanwhile, is rumoured to be leaving Konami following the completion of The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain releases on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 1, with a PC release to follow on September 15.
