One of the next Deadpool items Fortnite players will be able to unlock hints at a big change coming to back bling and pickaxes.
The second season of Fortnite Chapter 2 is now in full swing and it almost feels as if Epic didn’t make us wait a crazy amount of time. One of the other reasons players have been willing to forgive Epic for the long wait is the surprise introduction of Deadpool to the game. Everyone’s favorite anti-hero popped up a couple of times in the launch trailer and then again in the Battle Pass trailer.
Although not confirmed by Epic, it’s almost nailed on at this point that Deadpool will be Season 2’s secret skin. Although it hardly seems like a secret at this point. For the time being, any players who have purchased this season’s Battle Pass are facing fresh Deadpool challenges each week. Completing each set of weekly challenges rewards players with a new Deadpool-themed item.
The reward for completing the challenges in week one was a Deadpool logo, and last week’s reward was a spray featuring the Marvel character riding a unicorn. Even though week three’s challenges and reward have not yet been added to the game, players are already looking to week four. That’s because Twitter user Hypex might have leaked what the reward will be, and its a big one.
One of next week’s challenges will be to find Deadpool’s katanas, the two swords he usually keeps crossed in their sheaths on his back. The assumption is that completing that challenge will reward players the katanas as a back bling. However, since katanas are cutting tools/weapons, it appears that they will also double up as a pickaxe.
Hypex has also reported to have found an upcoming Fortnite feature, which will allow all pickaxes to be holstered in their back bling. That could make for some pretty interesting looking backs in Fortnite’s future. We don’t imagine every back bling will look as neat as the one designed to hold Deadpool’s katanas, especially with a completely different pickaxe in it. As for the Deadpool skin, there’s still no word on when it will be available, but we are getting closer every week.
