There might be a LEGO NES set to be revealed very soon, and it might be compatible with the Adventures With Mario Starter Course revealed earlier this year (via IGN).

Moreover, it seems as though this set will link up with the Super Mario sets which were revealed earlier this year. One photo of the manual shows the Mario toy from that set perched on top of the CRT, and it will play the sounds for “on screen obstacles, power-ups and enemies,” apparently.

In an article published today, VJGamer gave the game away (so to speak), revealing the new set with its box, manual and individual pieces. Once built, it looks like CRT TV playing World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. for the NES, plus a Nintendo Entertainment System replica console and controller, and the game’s cartridge. 2,646 pieces make up the sculpture, which is quite the undertaking. Perfect for a rainy summer afternoon, if you ask me. Then, LEGO website Promo Bricks claimed that the new NES set will be priced at €229.99, to hit the shelves on August 1.

Knowing that the jig might have been up, the official LEGO Twitter account released a short gif with the caption “are you ready to play like never before?” The CRT and the console are just about visible in the darkness of the animation, so this might be a cheeky confirmation of the NES set. We’ll keep you in the loop once we know more.
