As solid-state drives (SSD) become more and more commonplace in the PC community, it makes sense that more options become available for consumers. To keep up with growing performance needs, Lexar has added to the market with its new lineup of NQ100 SATA III SSDs.

The new SSDs boast read speeds up to 550MB/s, and feature shock and vibration resistance for those who choose to put them inside a laptop.

When it launches, the NQ100 will be available in three different sizes: 240GB, 480GB and 960GB. As far as pricing is concerned, the 240GB model runs at £29.99, 480GB at £49.99, and the 960GB at £94.99. A rough conversion to USD puts the prices approximately at $39.99, $66.99, and $126.99, respectively.

SSDs built to last

The company states that the drives have been tested with over 1,100 devices in order to “ensure performance, quality, compatibility, and reliability.” For those concerned about the lifespan of the devices, Lexar advertises some pretty impressive numbers. The Terabytes Written (TBW), which gives an idea on how much a user can write to the drive before failure is expected, range from 168TB on the 240GB model to 672TB on the 960GB model. According to Lexar, every 120GB of drive space has a TBW of 84TB.
