French studio Dontnod Entertainment is teasing news on the next games and projects it’s working on via the studio’s Twitter account.
The developer, responsible for creating the Life is Strange games and Vampyr, has said it has something to share with fans today. “A little birdie told us if you come back here tomorrow,” they wrote yesterday. “You’ll see some news from us and maybe even get some clues as to what we’ve been working on.”
The company claimed in its 2021 Business Review back in February that it was working on 8 projects for release between 2022 and 2025, with six developed in house and two it’ll publish from other studios. The latter includes Gerda: A Flame In Winter from Danish studio PortaPlay which was announced back in December.
As for the other games, that’s a little more hazy. The aforementioned business review does mention that the studio intends to “strengthen its production capacity in the buoyant action-RPG segment”. It hasn’t given this project a reveal yet, but does refer to it as “Project 8”. It’s also worth noting that Vampyr was a pretty decent action RPG, so could a sequel be on the cards?
Presumably, we won’t have too long to find out, or at least get some kind of hint. The most recent two games from Dontnod were both out in 2020; Tell Me Why and Twin Mirror. It’s not known whether they’ll return to the series that made their name, though a remastered version of the original Life is Strange released earlier this year alongside the Deck Nine-developed Life is Strange: True Colors.
Gerda: A Flame in Winter, meanwhile, will launch later this year on Nintendo Switch and PC.
