Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment has announced a partnership with Dontnod Eleven, a small independent studio previously known as ‘HESAW’.
Based in Paris, France, Dontnod Eleven is described as a “small team of talented and passionate developers” that will work with Dontnod’s larger studio “with the purpose of sharing knowledge, expertise and resources in the years to come”.
HESAW’s first game was 2014 shooter Blue Estate, with its debut title under the Dontnod brand set to be competitive multiplayer shooter Battlecrew Space Pirates.
“We are very excited about the announcement of DONTNOD ELEVEN and its game: BATTLECREW Space Pirates,” said Dontnod Entertainment CEO Oskar Guilbert. “The goal of our collaboration is to help those talented independent developers and benefit from their know-how. They’ve been working on this game for about a year and we’re happy to help them achieve their goal of releasing this fun, exciting and innovative gaming experience.”
Set within an “evolving universe”, Battlecrew puts players in the role of a variety of space pirates as they hunt down gold or destroy the opposing team.
“You play as the coolest and most charismatic pirates in the galaxy!” says the developer. “Each character has unique attack, defense, and movement attributes: it’s up to you to find the one that suits you best!
“Lead your team into intense and epic battles! Take on enemy teams that are just as classy and bloodthirsty as yours! Steal as much of their gold as you can, turn them into space dust, and become the most feared and respected pirate in the four corners of the galaxy!”
The game is set to launch on Steam Early Access “soon”. For a look at what to expect, check out the debut trailer below.
