Can’t get enough Battlefield 3? I can’t say I blame you. The trailers released for the game so far have been simply stunning, and go a long way toward demonstrating how DICE plans to bring next generation gaming to current consoles. But wouldn’t you like a longer look at the game in action? Well, DICE has a proposition for you.

DICE has assembled a twelve minute trailer for Battlefield 3, and in the best spirit of DVD-style bonus features, they’ve also put together a Director’s Commentary for the trailer. You can’t see it anywhere just yet, but with the help of the game’s fans, hopefully it will soon be unlocked for everyone to see.

What do you have to do to catch a glimpse at this epic trailer? Pre-order the game, maybe, or download something from Xbox Live or PSN? Nope, nothing that costly or complicated. Just head on over to the Battlefield Facebook page, and “like” it. That’s it. If the page gets to 1 million “likes,” the video will be unlocked. At the moment, the total sits at 517,628 – we’re over half way there.

Given the state of the shooter, Battlefield 3 has the potential to make a real impact on the gameing landscape. Though DICE warns that Battlefield’s visuals may dissapoint some console owners, a recent look at screenshots, artwork, and storyboards for the game still have a lot of players pretty excited.

It’s been the busiest year ever for shooters. We’ve already seen the release of Killzone 3, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, and Homefront, and SOCOM 4 is literally releasing next week. A new Medal of Honor is in development, and no one is apt to forget that Gears of War 3 hits in September, nor that an announcement about the next Call of Duty game is on the way. Make no mistake, Battlefield 3 is facing stiff competition on all fronts. But if the developers at DICE deliver on all their promises, the game could really be something special.

Did you “like” the Battlefield Facebook page? Are you looking forward to the game?

Battlefield 3 is expected to release November 2, 2011, for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
