Although the release date of Kojima’s highly-anticipated game Death Stranding has been previously announced, today’s State of Play presentation revealed something new. Death Stranding is getting its own limited edition PlayStation 4 Pro console together with a unique DualShock 4 controller.

The limited-edition console will be launching alongside the game and includes a Death Stranding themed 1TB PS4 Pro. The console sports a white matte finish featuring two Death Stranding handprints on top that form the shapes of the world’s continents. Kojima previously explained on Twitter that these handprints are important icons in the upcoming game.

Furthermore, the custom DualShock 4 controller features an orange translucent color, which bears a striking resemblance to the color of the BB pods featured in previous Death Stranding trailers and gameplay footages. The Limited Edition Death Stranding PlayStation 4 Pro console will release on November 8, 2019, and is priced at $399.99.

Meanwhile, Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima made headlines a couple of days ago when he explained on Twitter what a “Hideo Kojima Game” means. In his post, the developer said that he was involved in nearly all aspects of the game’s development from scriptwriting to supervising merchandise. Immediately after the dev’s tweet, many called him egocentric, but it turns out that the tweet was misinterpreted, given that Kojima’s first language is not English.

As we move closer to the release date of the game, many are still bewildered on what Death Stranding is actually about. Although the game has received several trailers and gameplay footages, most of them were never straightforward and produced more questions than answers. In our attempt to explain what Death Stranding is, we look into three possible scenarios that would allow us to understand the game more, but it appears that playing the game is the only way for players to fully comprehend Death Stranding.

However, the mystery surrounding Death Stranding is pretty understandable given that Kojima has been vocal that he wants to create a new genre specifically for Death Stranding. The creator also revealed that it would take several sequels for Death Stranding to establish the “Strand” genre in the industry, hinting that Kojima is already thinking of future installments.

Death Stranding is set to release on November 8, 2019, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
