Supermassive Games, makers of the horror hits Until Dawn and Man of Medan have “officially” announced the next game in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope. When we say “officially,” it’s because we’ve only seen glimpses, teases, and even a “spoilery” bit towards the end of Man of Medan. The Dark Pictures Anthology – A little wait for Little Hope
I still remember that moment vividly. While I was reviewing Man of Medan, the first title in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology series, I reached the bowels of the ship (the titular SS Ourang Medan). My character Conrad (played by Shawn Ashmore), found one of those strange pictures hanging on the wall.
Normally, those pictures would’ve given a look at various premonitions that showed a possible outcome as I progressed through the narrative. All of the previous ones depicted something happening to Man of Medan‘s characters. However, once I did interact with this final painting, the following cinematic was far different. The cinematic showed a completely new character, one played by Will Poulter (whom you may remember from the Maze Runner movies and Netflix’s Black Mirror special Bandersnatch).
“This guy’s not in the game,” I told myself. I continued to wonder until dawn (pun very much intended) when I realized that the scene depicts the next game in The Dark Pictures Anthology, none other than Little Hope. Sure enough, finishing the release build of the game and staying after the end credits showed a teaser trailer for Little Hope. You can watch it below from YouTuber RabidRetrospectGames:
I thought that was one helluva cool idea. In this day and age when moviegoers hope there’s an exciting scene after the end credits, Man of Medan players got to see Little Hope‘s reveal for the first time.
We don’t have to wait that long because Supermassive Games has confirmed that The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope will release this summer. The game’s store page isn’t available via Steam yet, but we’ll likely see it as we get closer to launch day.
