LittleBigPlanet 2 is just 5 days away from launch and it’s already expected to break records, but maybe not the records you were expecting. Sony is hosting an event in New York on January 17th until the 19th to smash some Guinness World Records and give LittleBigPlanet 2 its temporary spot in history.

What type of records does Sony and Media Molecule plan on breaking? The list is as follows:

  • Longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2 Longest marathon playing a platform video game Most video game genres played in one video game in 24 hours Most user-generated video game levels played in 24 hours Most user-generated video game levels played in a marathon

LittleBigPlanet 2 will also be receiving the following records:

  • Most gaming genres in one video game Most player-created levels in one video game

Sony will be streaming the event live on their blog in case you want to check out just how long the ’longest marathon playing a platform video game’ really is.  Will they be able to successfully break all the records they’ve set out to? Considering LittleBigPlanet 2 had about 30 real user generated levels from our alpha impressions back in October, it will be interesting to see just how high this number has gotten since then.  The real question that is sure to be lingering on everyone’s minds, will they be able to break the “longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2?” If they don’t succeed, then they have failed at life.

For any gamers in the New York area who wish to take part in the event and possibly go down in the Guinness World Records right next to Hank Chien, just head to the PlayStation Lounge at the Sony Style store on 550 Madison Avenue this Monday.

How long is your longest gaming marathon?  Did you play one game or did you take on multiple in one sitting?  What’s the strangest gaming Guinness Record you’ve seen? Let us know in the comments!
