Nintendo has dropped a new trailer for upcoming RPG remaster Live A Live, focusing on the Prehistory era.
The game is a remaster of the Super Famicom 1994 RPG, originally published and developed by Square Enix. The game’s original director Takashi Tokita has teamed up with the those behind Octopath Traveller & Triangle Strategy. As a result, this remake will be using a similar HD-2D style to those pair of games.
You’ll be playing as seven heroes across various timelines and abilities, and you’ll be able to experience them in any order. They include the Wild West, Imperial China, the Twilight of Edo Japan, Present Day, the Near Future and Distant Future. Then there’s Prehistory, which is what we’re looking at today.
The Prehistory chapter follows the characters of caveman Pogo and his monkey companion Gori as the former sets out to prove his worth. Along the way, they’ll meet up with Beru, a young woman who’s being pursued by warrior Zaki. You’ll find out how their stories entwine in their chapter, where you’ll also use scene to track wild beasts and people. You’ll also be crafting items as you play.
Each story will play differently, we’re told. Some other mechanics in the original game included stealth in the Twilight of Edo chapter, and even telepathy in another. We can probably expect more of these explainer videos then in the run up to release. Live A Live lands exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on July 22.
