10 Godfall

Announced at the Game Awards last week was one of the PS5’s first exclusive game, Godfall. Created by Gearbox, the same company that brought the Borderlands franchise, Godfall is a hack and slash action RPG. Gearbox’s first title into the action RPG genre is described as a “loot-slasher”.

As players vanquish bosses and enemies, they’re rewarded with “head-turning loot”, as described by Gearbox Software. There’s no gameplay trailer yet but its reveal trailer is stunning and whether this loot-slasher is a success or not, it’s a new title to look forward to in 2020’s holiday season

9 Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legion is the third installment of the Watch Dogs series. Taking place “across the pond”, the game is set in a fictional London with the local branch of DedSec continuing the fight against ctOS. DedSec has recruited allies across the city, meaning you get to play multiple characters for the first time in the series.

The game was first announced at E3 this year and was originally set for March 2020, but delays have set it back for the next fiscal year. This delay means it’ll be coming out for the PS5, as confirmed by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, according to IGN.

8 Dying Light 2

Fans of Dying Light and zombie games, in general, have been patiently waiting for Dying Light’s sequel ever since it was announced. Techland, the series’ developer, announced at E3 that the game would be released in Spring 2020, making fans wonder if it would remain a PS4 release or make it onto the next-gen console.

In a WCCRTech interview with Techland’s Chief Technology Officer Pawel Rohleder, it was revealed that the game had always been planned to be a cross-generation title, meaning it will be available on both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

7 Gods & Monsters

Godfall isn’t the only fantasy title that’s coming to the PS5, nor is Watch Dogs: Legion the only Ubisoft game. Gods & Monsters is a game that was first showcased at E3. From the creators of Assassins Creed Odyssey, it’s described as a “storybook adventure” set in a mythological-like open world.

Become like the heroes of Greek sagas and save the gods from the deadly Typhon. The game’s website has a release dates of February 2020 but has been delayed until the next fiscal year, though you can still expect to see it on both the PS4 and the PS5.

6 NBA Live 21

Fans of the NBA Live series haven’t exactly been too happy with EA and the direction the series has been going. Four planned NBA Live titles had been canceled, the latest NBA Live 20 back in October. But fans hoping for a sequel to NBA Live 19 might just have some hope as EA shifted its focus to work on its title for next-gen consoles, NBA Live 21.

With a “greater understanding” of what the next-gen consoles can do, EA stated that they “can go much further with” a new design and expand on their vision for the franchise. That’s all the information on the new title there is, until later in 2020.

5 Rainbow Six Quarantine

Those who either played the Rainbox Six Outbreak event or missed it and wanted to will get their chance to play something similar when Rainbow Six Quarantine is released in 2020. It’s a 3-player co-op game set many years into the future of the series.

Inspired by the success of the Outbreak event, Ubisoft is bringing a game with a new and deadlier breed of alien parasite. The game is scheduled to be released sometime in March or April. There’s not much else known about the title, though you can register at the game’s official website potentially play the game early.

4 The Wolf Among Us 2

The Game Awards not only celebrated some of the best games of the year, but it rewarded gamers everywhere with the news of The Wolf Among Us 2! Telltale Games was acquired and relaunched by LCG Entertainment, making the revival of the series possible. A short trailer teased the return of Bigby and Snow foreshadowing an even darker and grittier game.

So far there hasn’t been any more news on a release date or anything else, except on the game’s website it states it’ll be coming to PC and consoles. It can only be assumed that one of those consoles will be the PS5.

3 Undetermined Bluepoint Studios Project

Bluepoint Studios has made its name known throughout the gaming community as the master of remasters with the work they’ve done for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Shadow of the Colossus for the PS4 and more. Bluepoint Studios has been teasing gamers for a while now about their next project after the success of Shadow of the Colossus.

An interview with Wired taking a look at the specs of the PS5, president of Bluepoint Marco Thrust dropped that the company was working on “a big” title. And a cryptic Halloween tweet leads many to suspect a number of titles that the company could be working on, like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and even Demon Souls.

2 Final Fantasy VII Remake

The Final Fantasy VII remake has been one of the most anticipated game releases since it was first officially announced back at 2015’s E3. Since then fans’ excitement for the game has grown with each new trailer released. It’s already been stated that the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on the PS4 March 3, 2020, but it’s pretty likely that future parts of the remake will be released on the PS5.

Game Informer interviewed Square Enix’s CEO and president, Yosuke Matsuda, who expressed his confidence that the game’s teams have “made it so that the game will support both the next generation and the current generation of consoles”.

1 The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum

It’s been a little while since a Lord of the Rings game came to a console. The upcoming game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced back in March and has players taking on the role of, surprisingly, Gollum. In an interview with PCGamer Daedalic, the game’s publisher give a little insight into what players can expect from the game.

The game will focus on Gollum’s story from before the books and gameplay will, interestingly, incorporate the use of his split personality. Considering that the game won’t be out until 2021, after the PS5’s release, it’s more than likely to be a next-gen console release.
