Madden 23 released its first set of Gridiron Guardians last week and has followed up with another great selection for fans to add. The comic book, superhero themed program has been a hit in MUT and Madden 23 has decided to enrich their stacked group of Gridiron Guardians with a fresh round of new cards.
In the first drop, Madden 23 released 19 new Gridiron Guardians, including the LTD. Today on Good Morning Madden at 10:30AM ET, it was no different. A total of 18 new players were announced on the live stream and the 19th card (the second champion) will be revealed at 7PM ET today.
Last week, the Gridiron Guardians Program introduced what they call ‘Mentors’. Each Mentor comes with a Dynamic Duo trait that allows them to have two connected Gridiron Guardian Heroes. When playing all together in the same lineup, each of the two Heroes and the Mentor will receive skill boosts that will make them even that much better for your lineup.
However, this week fared a bit differently. Instead of adding in more Mentors, Madden 23 decided to release two other types of Gridiron Guardians instead: ‘Alter Egos’ and ‘Side Kicks’.
On that note, let’s get straight to it and see what the latest Gridiron Guardians set entails in Madden 23.
Madden 23: Gridiron Guardians 2
Limited Edition (91 Overall)
D.K. Metcalf (WR): The Gridiron Guardians 2 Limited Edition (LTD) player is the one and only D.K. Metcalf. The dominant Seattle Seahawks wideout was given 92 jumping, 92 deep route running, and 92 spectacular catch.
If there’s any wide receiver card Madden 23 has dropped that resembles anything like the legendary Calvin Johnson, it’s this very Gridiron Guardians Metcalf LTD.
Champions (91 Overall)
- Nick Bosa (RE) – 49ersEric Dickerson (HB) – Rams
Side Kicks (88 Overall)
One of the new sets of players Madden 23 added into their Gridiron Guardians Program, is that of the Side Kicks. Upon acquiring these four special Side Kicks and adding them to your lineup, you’ll get boosts on any Gridiron Guardians players that have anywhere between a 79 or 86 overall rating.
The important detail to remember is that to activate that boost reward, you need to own all four Side Kicks. If you don’t, you won’t have access to those boosts.
Here’s the list of Side Kicks:
- Haason Reddick (LOLB) – EaglesPatrick Peterson (CB) – VikingsAndrus Peat (LG) – SaintsAntonio Gibson (HB) – Commanders
Alter Egos (88 Overall)
In addition to the Side Kicks, Madden 23 also included Alter Egos into the next set of Gridiron Guardians. And what’s really neat with these players, is that they carry a position that pertains to the opposite unit on their team that they don’t play for.
For those of you that remember the All-Madden, Cornerback Randy Moss card, it’s very similar to that in the sense you will have offensive players listed with a defensive position and vice versa for defensive players.
Here’s a look at the Alter Egos from the latest Gridiron Guardians 2 set.
