Just days after the release of NCAA Football 11, EA Sports has announced that the demo to its big brother, Madden NFL 11, will be coming out on July27th. This years demo is vastly different from Madden’s past.
Unlike previous years, the upcoming demo, which features a match up between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets, will have full 5 minute quarters. Previous versions were limited to 2 minute quarters. The reason for this is to give players a chance to experience the new GameFlow play calling situation.
The best way to describe GameFlow is as the spiritual successor to Ask Madden. Rather than asking Madden, when GameFlow play calling is enabled, after a play the coach will send in the next play to you audibly. Here’s a peak at what that’s going to sound like:
Also making its debut in the demo is the Jets’ new stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The new stadium has raised eyebrows recently due to it getting awarded Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014. The New Jersey stadium received Roger Goodell’s blessing when he waived the 50-degree climate rule for outdoor Super Bowls so the game could be played there. All the ambiance of the stadium should be with with stadium music and the classic J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets! chants.
Unlike most EA demos that remove the commentary to save room to squeeze under XBL’s file size requirements, the upcoming demo will feature the voices of Madden’s booth tandem of play-by-play man Gus Johnson, and color man Cris Collinsworth.
After a week of NCAA Football 11, I’m really excited for Madden 11. This year’s release of Madden is looking to bring the franchise to the next level.

While the demo is only coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3, Madden NFL 11 will also launch for PS2, PSP, Wii, and iPhone on August 10th in North America and August 13 in Europe.
