The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has made its way to the hands of subscribers, and in no time the info from the pages of the magazine has been plastered all over internet gaming forums.

According to the Game Informer preview, Modern Warfare 2 will be set several years after events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, with players going up against a Russian terrorist in a number of chilly locations.

Infinity Ward president Jason West revealed to the magazine that the gameplay in Modern Warfare 2 is “wide open and has a lot of variety”, but maintains the linear story structure of the first game. Fans can also expect the single-player campaign to be a little longer than that found in CoD4.

As for co-op play, West says this will only be found in the game’s Special Forces mode – think challenges similar to the Mile High Club mission from the end of CoD4.

The magazine also features a selection of impressive looking screen shots, but you’ll have to get hold of the magazine to see those.

Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for release on November 10.
