Magic Arena may be out of its extended beta window, but that doesn’t mean the game is done growing and evolving. Wizards of the Coast is still making frequent improvements to the Magic: The Gathering digital companion to ensure the best user experience possible for the popular game. The December game update takes into consideration one of the most frequent complaints about MTG Arena and offers a quality of life improvement that will make deck building and selection much easy.
The upcoming patch is making a lot of exciting and interesting changes to Magic Arena, but the biggest quality of life change has to do with new options for deck sorting. Any deck crafter who has spent time in MTG Arena can attest to how difficult it can be to keep track of which decks are appropriate for which formats and which version is the most up-to-date.
Many of the deck sorting issues could technically be resolved by users sticking to a more consistent naming convention, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for UX improvements. Some new filtering and sorting options will offer players a much better experience and help narrow down searches in very helpful ways (though there’s no need to search for Oko decks anymore…).
This is definitely a welcome change and players are already looking forward to taking advantage of it. Hopefully Wizards of the Coast keeps up this level of community engagement and frequent patches to help make MTG Arena a product that stays relevant for years to come.
“As we continue to expand on the variety of events and formats that MTG Arena is looking to support, we’re aware that it has become quite daunting to keep track of which New Deck is your new New Deck versus the New Deck that is your Brawl New Deck, when actually the deck you were thinking of was Imported Deck (3)… Questionable decisions regarding deck naming aside, starting with the December game update, you’ll be able to sort your decks by format, color identity, alphabetical or last modified, search for them by name—or a combination of the above.”
