The Rio Olympic Games came to an end last night, and in doing so began the build up to the Tokyo 2020 games with a slick video and an appearance by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, with a little help from Mario.

A two minute video featured a host of Japanese icons including Doraemon and Pac-Man, and ended with Abe running late to attend the Rio closing ceremony. Thankfully Mario and his plumbing pipes come to the rescue.

You’d expect video games to form a major part of the Tokyo 2020 opening ceremony.
