Everyone’s favourite web-crawler Spider-Man is still set to launch as DLC for Marvel’s Avengers later this year, according to senior game designer Scott Walters.

He was speaking to Screen Rant, who asked for an update on Peter Parker’s alter-ego’s whereabouts given we’ve not heard much of late. “In terms of what we can say now, we’ve always scheduled and looked to bring Spider-Man out in 2021 for PlayStation owners,” he said. “That is still on track, so we’ll have more announcements later on this year.”

Spidey was first announced as coming to the game as a free DLC character exclusively for PlayStation formats last summer. At the time, Associate Art Director Jeff Adams said the team was busy “making sure our hero moves and fights like he should.” They promised he’d come with a wide array of gadgets and web configurations. However, we’ve since heard very little on the web slinger.

Later this week, the superhero brawler will be welcoming another of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, as Black Panther joins the roster tomorrow. The Marvel’s Avengers: War for Wakanda DLC includes a new biome, new villains, new enemies and an entire new story chapter. Black Panther himself will be voiced by none other than 2018’s God of War Kratos actor, Christopher Judge.

Hopefully we’ll hear more about Spider-Man arriving in Marvel’s Avengers soon. The game is currently available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. Meanwhile another of Marvel’s hero teams—the Guardians of the Galaxy— are getting their own game on October 26.
