Marvel’s Avengers has generated a lot of hype since the time it was announced. The developers have revealed a bunch of information regarding their upcoming game to generate this hype, which includes, but is not limited to, characters gameplay videos, level caps, items/bonuses, and even the sixth Avenger, Ms.Marvel.
Marvel’s Avengers is expected to launch next year, but as it turns out, there are going to be some limitations - players won’t be able to assemble their favorite superheroes locally. It’s already known that there will be plenty of online content, including a co-op multiplayer mode, but those who are looking forward to fighting bad guys in couch co-op mode will be disappointed to know that the game won’t feature a local co-op mode at all. While Marvel’s Avengers will offer roughly 15 hours or so of the offline campaign, players will have to go at it alone it seems.
Scot Amos, Crystal Dynamics Head of Studio, revealed this disappointing news when speaking at the New York Comic-Con. He talked about different aspects of the game, but when talking about multiplayer content in the game, he confirmed that there won’t be any local co-op mode in Avengers at launch. Players will have to rely on online multiplayer until the devs decide to include a local co-op mode, which is unlikely as the team is more focused on delivering online multiplayer content.
In the meantime, more and more details are coming out regarding Marvel’s Avengers ahead of its release next year. So far, Crystal Dynamics has promised an ever-expanding world, a multi-year story, free DLC characters, and different online multiplayer modes. With all these features, Marvel’s Avengers does stand out as one of the most anticipated games of 2020; however, it remains to be seen how it fares when both the critics and the players get their hands on the game.
