2K and Firaxis have announced they’re delaying Marvel’s Midnight Suns out of October to an as yet unspecified date.

The news first came as part of a 2K investor call, before the official Twitter account revealed the delay to fans in a statement.

“After discussion with the team,” they wrote. “We’ve made the decision to move back the launch timing of Marvel’s Midnight Suns to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our fans.”

Marvel’s Midnight Suns – release date

As a result, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will now launch “later this fiscal year” on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. While that doesn’t give an exact new date, that does give a deadline of March 2023.

It’s even more bad news for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch owners, however. They weren’t given a window, only told the game would launch on those consoles “following at a later date.”

It’s not the first delay for the game. When first announced, 2K set a release date of March of this year, but shifted that to later in 2022 by the end of last year. It was then given a new release date of October back in June before this latest delay.

The game sees a number of Marvel heroes teaming up to take on Lilith, Mother of Demons. Some of these heroes include Doctor Strange, Blade, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man and more. Gameplay involves a genre-blending mix of card battler and strategic combat similar to developer Firaxis’ XCOM series, with RPG elements too.

“We know fans are looking forward to playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns,” the team continued. “And we will use this extra time to make sure we are delivering the best possible experience for everyone.”
