Marvel’s Midnight Suns boss guide – How to beat Fallen Hulk

Unlike other major foes in the campaign, the Fallen Hulk boss in Marvel’s Midnight Suns doesn’t necessarily show up as a random enemy reinforcement. Instead, you’ll face him in several story missions: Los Diablos, Backdoor, and The Witch on Wundagore Mountain. In the first two encounters, the goal is to survive four rounds as best as you can. Only then will your team be allowed to escape.

Here are some additional tidbits:

  • Use cards that provide extra draws/redraws so that you can eliminate most regular mobs during your turn.
  • Hulk’s Enraged passive causes his Offense to build up whenever he takes damage.
  • His other perk, Distractable, causes him to get taunted by the character that last hit him. However, other squadmates will deal more damage to him if they don’t have aggro.

Due to the above, the idea is to swap characters to maximize the damage that you deal. Alternatively, you can amass more Heroism to knock him out cold with a brutal strike (i.e., Hero Combo Cards, Patience, Wild Strike, Penance Stare, and the like).

If Hulk is downed, he’ll rise up once more in succeeding turns, so just do your best to stay alive. Lastly, if ever you can’t KO him at the end of your turn, then make sure the one who has aggro is a tanky character so they can soak the hit.

Eventually, you’ll battle him in a mission called The Witch on Wundagore Mountain, which occurs near the end of the campaign. The key difference here is that Scarlet Witch (a required character) is fully empowered. All her cards are upgraded, she does more damage, and additional cards are drawn at the end of each turn.

Another mechanic is Absorb Darkness, which is akin to the one from the Fallen Scarlet Witch boss fight. Basically, Fallen Hulk has unlimited lives. The only way to win is by taking him out, and using Absorb Darkness to cleanse the corruption. This needs to be done three times, and the Hunter takes damage and gets afflicted with a random debuff when it’s cast. Don’t worry, though, because Wanda has access to her No More Legendary Card even if you haven’t acquired it yet. It pops up later in the fight, and you can use it to drop Hulk instantly (though Wanda also gets KO’d).

In any case, if you do manage to beat Fallen Hulk in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you’ll be treated to a cutscene showing that Bruce Banner has finally regained his senses. He’ll then be available as a regular member of your roster. You’ll get to use his best skills in battle, and engage in a puzzle encounter to obtain his Legendary Card.

Note: Unlike your other teammates, Hulk does not have a Friendship meter. Instead, his Legendary Challenge is tied to Research requirements.
