In 2007, 2010, and 2012, we were treated to the Mass Effect trilogy. This epic space-based tale shot us into a conflict between our species and a prehistoric destruction-obsessed group of evil beings the likes we have never seen on Earth. Over the course of these three games, we got to fight through unique and challenging enemies, witness events and locales that ranged from beautiful to terrifying, and got the chance to meet some interesting characters and new races along the way.
The first three games were incredible, and while they were nowhere near perfect (with each game having its own set of problems), they told a story that made us ponder a world beyond our own, and brought us a wild ride of excitement and raw emotion. Bioware achieved something special with this first trilogy, creating a universe that many Star Wars fans say recreated the magic that franchise unveiled.
After an anxious four year wait, the series released another game, and while some fans haven’t been quite as enthralled with Andromeda as they were with the first trilogy, the game has managed to bring back the fantasy of the original three games, with some interesting tweaks, and a slightly different tone.
While the stories, scenery, and role-playing aspects of the game are incredible, maybe the most intriguing part of the series is the characters. From Commander Shepard and his various team members, to the villains and of course the lesser known NPC’s who just play a tiny role in the game, the people and creatures you meet really do represent a galaxy in which we are simply a tiny player. How many of these characters from the Mass Effect series (including Andromeda) can you name? These will start out nice and easy, but we’ll ramp up the difficulty.
