A Donald Trump campaign video promoted by the official Trump for President campaign, but not believed to have been officially commissioned, has been removed for infringing on EA’s copyright. The video utilised audio from a Mass Effect 2 trailer.
Video creator immigrant4trump tweeted: “WOW, Got Retweeted By Donald Trump, Thanks! Lets Make America Great Again!”
Trump’s tweet has also now been removed with the official message: “This Tweet from @realDonaldTrump has been withheld in response to a report from the copyright holder.”
EA told GameInformer: “The video was an unauthorized use of our IP. We do not support our assets being used in political campaigns.”
Mass Effect 3 gameplay designer Manveer Heir also expressed his displeasure at Mass Effect being associated with the Trump campaign.
“TFW Donald Trump retweets campaign propaganda that uses music and voiceover from a game you worked on #gross.”
“I love the idea that Trump may think he’s the Illusive Man, who is verifiably the bad guy in the game.”
