It’s still the season for spending and PlayStation owners are in for a surprise if they check out the Playstation Store. In honor of the holiday season and new decade, hundreds of games are on sale right now for a portion of their original price.
Every year, Sony holds a holiday sale during December which goes well into the New Year. During this time, many triple-A and indie games receive discounts of up to 50-percent or more in rare cases. Between many other ongoing sales and the PlayStation Store, players everywhere should be able to find a game that they’ve been looking for.

2019 was a great year for gaming with many popular titles being released or remade in today’s standards. To that end, the list includes breakout games such as Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, on sale for $40.19 compared to the original $59.99 price. Furthermore, the latest addition to the Star Wars canon, Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, can be purchased for $49.79, seventeen-percent down from the normal $60.00 cost. Finally, Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the best-selling game in the series on multiple fronts, is available at a thirty-four percent discount on the $60.00 price tag, costing only $39.59 during the sale. On that note, the Season 1 Battle Pass bundle for Modern Warfare can also be purchased for $63.99 compared to the normal $79.99 cost.
Even with these best sellers at the top of the list, there are many more titles in the store to be discovered or remembered, at a fraction of the original cost. The ever-lasting Borderlands 3 is currently available for purchase at $38.99, a thirty-five percent discount on the original $59.99 price. Additionally, Red Dead Redemption 2, which may also be coming to the Switch in the future, has a sixty-percent deal on its Ultimate Bundle, going for a mere $39.99 compared to the whopping $99.99 cost when not on sale. And underneath these titles, there are still over a thousand other on-sale games to be found in the Playstation Store.
Since 2019 released so many titles, it makes sense for Sony to offer discounts even for recent releases going into the new decade. Many games on sale will have post-release and downloadable content in 2020, so player interest for those titles will increase as the year goes on and even older games will continue to see some retention in sales.
In the end, there may be some gamers who aren’t interested or already have the games on sale in the PlayStation Store. Those users shouldn’t worry, because there will be a new rotation of deals and savings that starts in a few days on January 6th.
The current Holiday Sale will end on January 6th, 8:00 am.
